Just outside the stony archway that marks Yellowstone’s North entrance, elk cows and calves casually graze local lawns on the morning of March 28, 2024.
Beautiful chilly and rainy morning as misty clouds swirl around mountaintops, obscuring the peaks and sun rays fighting to break through.
On the ground, female cows and calves gather at the Forest Service station– eventually crossing the street to overtake a favorite resting ground in a church lot.
